TEXAS — Stetson Bennett, the former Georgia quarterback who had guided the Bulldogs to their second consecutive national title, was detained early on Sunday morning in Dallas on suspicion of public intoxication, according to police, who verified the incident to WFAA.

According to authorities, the arrest took place at 6 a.m. on Sunday in the 1600 block of Tribeca Way in Old East Dallas.

Police said they responded to complaints of a man pounding on doors in the neighborhood.

According to a police news release, the officers discovered Bennett when they arrived and "decided he was drunk."
